Dr. Jason Slomovitz grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and has been a practicing dentist since 2009. His dental career began in his teenage years when he worked as a dental assistant in his father’s practice during school holidays and summer vacations.
Dr. Slomovitz earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and his dental degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts—making him a proud “Double Jumbo!” At his dental school graduation, he was awarded the Alumni Clinical Excellence Award in General Dentistry, a distinction given annually to one student for outstanding achievements in patient care on the clinic floor.
During dental school, Dr. Slomovitz served as the President of his dental fraternity. Through this organization, with assistance from the Boston Red Sox, he helped organize a trip to an orphanage in the Dominican Republic to provide dental care for children. He also provided treatment to athletes at the Red Sox training facility on the island, as well as to residents of surrounding villages. This transformative experience deepened his belief in the importance of patient education and the need to empower patients to understand their dental care—values that continue to guide his practice today.
After graduating from dental school and receiving additional training under an oral surgeon, a periodontist, and a team of experienced general dentists, Dr. Slomovitz spent nearly a decade managing multi-specialty, insurance-driven dental offices. In these roles, he trained and supervised doctors and staff while balancing a full schedule of clinical dentistry, often helping his team navigate overscheduled days. More recently, he worked in a small group practice in South Jersey, making a conscious career shift to immerse himself in modern, high-quality materials and techniques while refining his approach to comprehensive treatment planning. This transition accelerated his professional growth, evolved his clinical philosophy, and fueled his passion for dentistry—so much so that he feels there is never enough time in the week to explore all the incredible advancements in the field.
Outside the office, Dr. Slomovitz enjoys cooking, traveling, and photography. He also considers himself a more skilled surfer than he actually is—usually surfing the Jersey Shore, where he once served as a lifeguard with the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol.
Now a resident of Durham, Dr. Slomovitz and his family relocated from Philadelphia in the summer of 2023. After years of unwavering support from his wife as he transitioned from his family’s high-volume dental practice to more fulfilling professional opportunities, it became his turn to support her career aspirations when she was offered her dream professor position at Duke Law, her alma mater.
Dr. Slomovitz is honored to hang his diploma at 3310 University Drive and looks forward to meeting all the patients who have proudly called it their dental home for so many years.
Hi, I’m Tracey—a proud mother of two beautiful daughters and a grandmother to a wonderful grandson. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me gardening, cooking, walking, traveling, or spending time with family and friends.
My journey into dentistry began with my grandmother, who worked as a dental assistant for many years. She encouraged me to pursue dental hygiene as a flexible and rewarding career, and I took her advice to heart. While waiting to be accepted into hygiene school, I worked and took my prerequisites at night. In 1996, I graduated and began my career with Dr. Karen Barwick in Graham, NC, where I spent 19 wonderful years. During that time, I built lasting relationships with my patients and teammates, traveled, and even had the unforgettable experience of seeing Dr. Barwick get called down as a contestant on The Price is Right!
Teaching became another passion of mine, thanks to Dr. Barwick and Margaret Hooper. I taught alongside them for years and continue to teach with Dr. Barwick today through DATC, Inc. I’ve also volunteered with Give a Kid a Smile, Mission of Mercy, Bright Smiles, Bright Futures, and a medical/dental team in Haiti.
In 2018, while on a mission trip to Haiti, I met Dr. Dinah Vice, with whom I worked for six and a half years. Her commitment to patient education and relationship-building made her practice feel like home, and I was grateful to be part of it.
Now, I’m thrilled to be joining Dr. Jason Slomovitz in launching his new practice. From the moment we met, I knew his vision aligned perfectly with my own—creating a place where patients feel valued, heard, and genuinely cared for. I can’t wait to welcome you to what I know will be my forever workplace!
